This afternoon I had to run errands to find enough equipment to put my mom’s computer online wirelessly and to get her analog television receiving digital channels. On the way back to the house I was enjoying the cloudless sky and the 65 degree weather.
I pulled over at a convenience store about 1/4 mile from the house to purchase a can of Arizona Arnold Palmer. It was a wonderful moment. I realized that it has been a very long time since I have been able to go out shopping for something, take my time, and do it all when there is sunlight.
It now occurs to me that there is great serenity in such moments, and I am going to try to seek out those moments as often as possible.
Tonight I decided to heat up some left-overs and supply everyone their one individual order. Heidi and mom in the living room. Felicia and the boyfriend in the Family room. Geoff while playing on his Mac in his room. Suddenly, everyone decided to congregate in the living room and watch some old family videos.
While everyone refreshed our past, I cleaned up the dishes and the kitchen. It was good to hear the laughter.
A good day indeed.
